Drywall Repair

I think we have all seen it.....

A drywall patch that was less than desirable. I know I have seen and once upon a time I would have been the one who dun it.

We do it for so much less than all those other contractors who left a SUPER visible seam line. My own mother, after the death of my father and my moving away had some drywall work done to the ceiling of her kitchen.

When the guy was done, he said, "there is no way to leave it without a seam". Needless to say we on the schedule to redo the repair.

Please don't settle for someone almost doing it right. It can be done. And just because you can finish drywall properly doesn't mean you should be paid like you just sculpted Michael Angelo's David.

FREEZING PIPES it is. I am not sure I know of anyone who has not been slightly disabled by the lovely Texas weather that we have been having this winter. Most of our time has been spent cutting firewood and working the kinks out of the plumbing the morning after the hard freezes.

Can I get an AMEN?

Lets try to keep it to one emergency at a time.

Wrapping the pipes and leaving it dripping is okay most of the time but with temperatures like we have been seeing and I assume we will be seeing we probably need to do more to be sure we aren't semi- permanently without water. When the temps are expected to drop below 25 in this neck of the woods; draw some emergency H2O and turn the water off. Turn it back on in the morning once the sun is shining.

One Down

Well,..... we made it through the first year and they say that is the hardest part. I hope they are right. Another year like this one and I don't think I could stand it. Each year in January it seems that the whole world, or at least my whole life starts all over again. We evaluate and assess the damages of our failures and the fruits of our successes. And so that we are not called crazy we try to right the wrong choices. As we head into this new year of 2010 we are looking at expanding over all and minimizing efforts in the small economy of Groveton. We want to branch out and eventually make our way back home to the west side of Houston.
